Over 40 years ago Doosan Babcock recognised the benefits of supercritical steam and created the technology to make it possible. Ever since we have been providing highly efficient ways of generating steam from a variety of fuels and have applied this expertise to coal fired power generation in particular. We have developed a number of solutions for the coal fired power generation market that allow us to produce steam reliably, safely and efficiently both for our customers and the environment.
The demand for world power is expected to more than double by the year 2030. At the same time it is expected that some 30 percent of existing capacity will be retired. Fuel changes, combustion issues, plant age and environmental legislation combine to present new challenges for plant owners and operators, with efficiency and emissions becoming increasingly important issues.
Doosan Babcock is one of the world's leading suppliers of supercritical power plant technology, a technology that can improve power plant efficiency and reduce total emissions output by up to 20 percent compared to existing power plant technology.
Since 1947 Doosan Babcock has supplied more than 140,000 MWe of fossil fuel fired steam generators. This includes 40,000 MWe of sub and super critical once through steam generators, and 100,000 MWe of natural circulation (drum type) boilers, both wall fired and downshot designs.
We are extremely active throughout Asia Pacific - for example in China, we currently have:
16,796 MWe (42 units) in operation
14,100 MWe (25 units) in construction
12,000 MWe (20 units) in design
